Terms & Conditions

Last updated: March 26, 2026

1. Service Description

DateMate is a tool that extracts dates, deadlines, and events from uploaded documents (such as syllabi and class schedules) and adds them to your connected calendar. The service uses AI-powered parsing which may not be 100% accurate.

2. No Guarantee of Accuracy

DateMate makes no guarantees regarding the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of extracted dates and events. Parsed information may contain errors including incorrect dates, missing deadlines, wrong times, or misclassified events. You are solely responsible for verifying all extracted information against your original documents.

3. Limitation of Liability

DateMate and its operators shall not be held liable for any damages, losses, or consequences arising from the use of this service, including but not limited to: missed deadlines, missed exams, late submissions, lost marks or grades, academic penalties, scheduling conflicts, or any other academic or professional consequences. Use of this tool is entirely at your own risk.

4. User Responsibility

You are responsible for reviewing all events before syncing them to your calendar. DateMate is intended as a convenience tool and should not be relied upon as your sole source of deadline or schedule information. Always cross-reference with your official course materials.

5. Data & Privacy

Uploaded documents are processed server-side and are not stored after extraction. We request access to your Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook Calendar solely to create events you have reviewed and approved. We request only the minimum necessary OAuth scope to write events. We do not read, modify, or delete any existing calendar entries. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.

6. Payments & Refunds

Your first upload is free and requires no payment. When your free upload has been used, a paywall will appear and you must manually purchase a pack of 6 uploads for $2.00 USD via Stripe Checkout. When a pack is exhausted, the paywall appears again and you must manually purchase another pack. There is no automatic charge, subscription, or recurring billing. Each purchase is a one-time Stripe Checkout transaction.

A billing term is 4 months, starting from the date of your first upload in that cycle. At the end of a billing term, your upload counter resets and you receive a new free upload before needing to purchase again. Unused uploads do not carry over between terms.

Upload packs are non-refundable. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. DateMate does not store your card number or billing details. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's Terms of Service.

7. Intellectual Property

You retain full ownership of all documents you upload and all calendar events created from those documents. DateMate claims no ownership or license over your content. The DateMate name, logo, and service design are the property of their respective owners.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) use the service for any unlawful purpose; (b) upload malicious files or content designed to exploit the system; (c) attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or data; (d) use automated tools to scrape or overload the service; (e) resell or redistribute access to the service without authorization.

9. Third-Party Service Dependencies

DateMate's core functionality depends on third-party services including Anthropic's Claude API, Google Calendar API, Microsoft Graph API, and Stripe. DateMate does not guarantee uninterrupted service if any of these providers experience downtime, change their terms, or discontinue their services. We are not liable for any loss or disruption caused by the unavailability or changes to third-party services.

10. Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time if you violate these Terms or misuse the service. If your account is terminated, any unused uploads in your current pack are forfeited and are non-refundable.

11. Modifications

We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Continued use of the service constitutes acceptance of any updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account.

12. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use DateMate, except in provinces where a higher age of digital consent applies (for example, 14 in Quebec under Law 25). You are responsible for confirming that you meet the applicable age requirement in your province. By using this service, you confirm that you meet this requirement.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein. Any disputes arising from your use of this service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
